Time Once Again

Well, I figure it's probably time once again to post something and let people know what it going on in my crazy life. Well I'll start off telling some funny not so funny stories about my child. Hope someone gets a laugh out of these stories. I'm still working on seeing the humor. I'm not sure that I posted about the beautiful couch that my husband bought for me while I was out of town well here we go. Mitch bought me a very nice couch which if we would have bought it retail probably would have cost us about $3,000. That is more money than I probably would have ever spent. Well the local furniture store was going out of business and were selling all of their things at rock bottom prices.( For those of you that know me, I purchase all of my furniture at stores that are closing. Do not let me go into any more of these stores.) Anyway so he bought me a very plush gray sectional while I was out of town, at the point in the story where this not so funny story took place we've had this couch for 3 months. I've been working on a project that required some bright blue paint. Reese my very smart child who knows how to climb onto any surface figured out how to get the small container of paint that I was using to paint out of off the counter. He proceeded to take that container into the living room and get the lid off and spill bright blue paint all over my new couch and the carpet. Luckily this was not one of the other funny stories I tell that happened while I was in the shower, I happened to be on the couch along with Mitch. Well Mitch immediately freaks out, I'm a little slower and am trying to figure out what happened. I'm grateful that Mitch is a quick thinker and immediately finds a way online to clean paint out of carpet and couches and I'm still reeling from my great luck. Then I remember our wonderful friends that let us use their carpet cleaner for another one of our wonderful stories I'll have to share another time. Well our great friends get in their vehicle and come over with their carpet cleaner and voila I have the perfect cleaning solution to get the bright blue paint out of both the carpet and couch. Remind me not to point out either places to anyone who comes to visit or if we ever sell the house or the couch. Please remind me not to leave any paint anywhere in the house in a container or not. Always remind me to never stop loving on this ever adorable little dude that I am so lucky to call my own. Not sure what I would do without him or his very handsome Daddy!!!
Well the little boy isn't napping so well so I'll have to finish my stories another time, stay tuned I'm sure to have many more stories.

Protect the Family

Not to bad, I've got another post for March. Say Hay!!!
Well might as well give you an update on life right now, been a little busy. Especially since Mitch is still in the middle of tax season and I am still a say at home mom. My days are spent entertaining Reese and maintaining the house, which is no small feat if you've seen my house or spent the day with my child. Reese lost his basketball somewhere in the house, it's been three weeks, he was driving Mitch and I crazy crying about it. Alright Mitch and Reese were driving me crazy as they cried about it. Well I finally broke down and bought both of them new basketballs. Yay for me, maybe I'll have some sanity.

Despite that Ashley Fay had her third child, my fourth nephew, Conrad Neeley. Such a cute little boy, got to spend a little time with Ashley and her cute family shortly after she returned home.
But now on to something that has been dominating my mind this morning. Maybe some of you will think that this is stupid, but it's been bothering me. I'm having a hard time with the government telling me how to raise my child. For example, in the news I have heard about the government deciding that if they don't like the choice that the parent makes they will take the child away from the parents and enforce upon the child what they deem fit. I know that this has been happening in the medical world, but I have heard of it happening elsewhere as well. I'm also bothered by the lack of care on the part of some parents. For example, with the recent car seat recall, there really isn't anything wrong with the car seat. The only problem with the car seat is the parents, the parents lack of monitoring and taking care of the car seat (checking for cleanliness and making sure it was in operating order). Why should it be the fault of the car seat manufacturer to replace parts when the parents aren't capable of cleaning up after their child. That I think is a little sad, as I was doing some studying I ran across a talk "Moral Values and Rewards" by Royden G. Derrick.
"The teachers in church and in school should be allies of the parents in teaching children appropriate values that will guide them throughout their lives. The home should be a laboratory of learning, where these values, and more sensitive ones too, are inculcated into the lives of family members through daily experiences. Then the three work in harmony to fulfill parental responsibility.
Unfortunately, today many societies in the world do not place sufficient importance upon the home and the family."
Just some food for thought, this talk was given in 1981, how sad that things have only gotten worse. I hope that we will be able pick up some pieces and start caring enough to stand up for them and protect them in all things, safety, medically, and spiritually more than anything. Stand up for the family and what the family stands for.

March Update

I thought I would give everyone a little bit of an update!! I know it has been a while since I have left a post but I thought maybe some people out here would like to know what is going on in our lives. So here goes.
I have become a stay at home mom. This was not planned and at the time was a very stressful decision. I was laid off at my job, that I had been brought in and had been there for almost a year. I was very upset that they would do that, but as time has drawn on  I know that it was only a matter of time before everyone gets laid off. It's been fun to stay home with Reese especially since he's now almost 19 months old and very energetic and starting to talk.  We spend a good majority of our day playing basketball and him helping me clean the house and do laundry.

I wouldn't change it for anything. Right now it's Tax Season and so Mitch is very busy and works alot, we see him very evening and on Sundays it seems. Tax Season is almost over and we are looking forward to April.
I was doing some studying this morning and I thought that since I've been angry with some of the women of the church and how they have been acting I thought that this was very fitting for my thoughts on the Priesthood and how I wish that some people would do some research and listen to the Prophets and what they learn in the temple. Sometimes I wonder if they have these strong doubts and they aren't taking them to the temple and studying them and finding an answer for themselves. I hope that they find peace with their choices and that instead of focusing on complete equality that they will understand that complete equality isn't truely equal anymore.

My young sisters, some will try to persuade you that because you are not ordained to the priesthood you have been shortchanged. They are simply wrong, and they do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. The blessings of the priesthood are available to every righteous man and woman. We may all receive the Holy Ghost, obtain personal revelation, and be endowed in the temple, from which we emerge “armed” with power. 12 The power of the priesthood heals, protects, and inoculates all of the righteous against the powers of darkness. Most significantly, the fulness of the priesthood contained in the highest ordinances of the house of the Lord can only be received by a man and woman together. 13 Said President Harold B. Lee: “Pure womanhood plus priesthood means exaltation. But womanhood without priesthood, or priesthood without pure womanhood doesn’t spell exaltation.”

It Is Not Good for Man or Woman to Be Alone
